Finding the perfect pillows has been such a lengthy process, we've had to hunt all over the Valley to try to find the right shades of pink, gold, & black. Mom & I circled all the main stores & ended up finding these beauties at Pier 1 Imports. My fur throw is also from Pier 1 but I've seen some gorgeous ones at Pottery Barn and Z Gallerie.

As you can imagine, I never keep my furniture in the same place for too long. I like to see my bed against different walls, and I'll break my back moving this darn thing around. You'll notice I'll relocate my bed side table (black & gold, right) and I'll switch out my euro shams because my skin gets a little irritated after using the same ones for too long.

SUNDAY MORNINGS IN BED
I take my coffee in bed, with whatever pastry I find lying around my house & I always gotta have my nutella and Sarabeth's jam. I have about 5 of these python trays & I love playing around with them in my room. I like rearranging them to lay my magazines on, or to use as jewelry trays, & in this case for breakfast in bed. If you're from the RGV area, I recommend visiting Burlington's & HOMEGOODS, that's where I bought mine. Before I found these python trays, I used either solid black ones or a black & white zig-zag tray. Occasionally, I'll use my older trays, but I have a deep love for chic animal prints. If you've noticed my floral bed sheet, you might be asking yourself why I've made the decision to mix two totally different prints. Since my room is still in transition from a princess Shabby Chic theme to a more grown-up girl chic look with a new color incorporation (BLACK), it's hard to find everything you need in one trip to Target. My mom has so many Shabby Chic fitted sheets in her armoire it's not even funny. One day, after a long day of failed shopping, I got home, dug my tired face into my pillows and decided to be a little rule breaker. Who says I need black sheets to match my black duvet? I marched straight to Mom's armoire, pulled out the first pink sheet I saw, sneaked back into my room and tucked it in under my mattress. What can I say, I'm still a Shabby Chic girl at heart.
For all you girls out there who are trying to give your room a makeover, here's one really good piece of advice :
DON'T RUSH INTO ANY PURCHASE
There were so many occasions when I felt I didn't know in which direction to decorate my new room. I've learned that it's key to have a clear objective before going out and making purchases. Firstly,
PICK 3 COLORS & STICK TO THEM
Mine are PINK, BLACK, & GOLD. Then, after establishing your colors, go through whatever you might already have at your house. Sort from what you'd like to keep in your room & what you'd like to put aside for the season. Next, create an inspiration board, whether it's on PINTEREST or an actual peg board, get all your ideas out there & see what it looks like together. Remember, what sounds good in our head might not translate well on paper.
